Growth Requires Letting Go
Every new level asks you to put something down first.
We talk about growth as addition. More skill, more income, more responsibility, more reach.
In practice, growth is mostly subtraction.
The manager who cannot stop doing the work never becomes a leader. The founder who cannot let go of the first product never builds the second. The person who insists on being liked by everyone never says the sentence their life depends on.
Letting go feels like loss because it is loss. You are giving up something that once worked. That is the whole difficulty. The habits that got you here were not mistakes — they were survival strategies, and they were good ones. They are simply no longer the strategies of the person you are becoming.
**The lesson:** You do not grow out of things you refuse to grieve. Name what you are putting down. Say thank you to it. Then put it down properly, not halfway.
**The question this week:** What are you still carrying because you are afraid of who you would be without it?
